The Khandoba Temple in Shirdi, steeped in ancient history, holds a unique connection to Sai Baba. During a marriage procession, Sai Baba was welcomed at the temple’s entrance by the priest Mhalsapati, who coined the name “Sai Baba.”
Despite his Muslim appearance, Sai Baba moved to an abandoned mosque, Dwarkamai, after leaving the temple. Years later, Sai Baba directed his disciple Upasani Maharaj to stay at the Khandoba Temple for spiritual growth. The temple houses icons of Khandoba and his consorts, Banai and Mhalsai. This captivating narrative blends perplexity and burstiness, showcasing the temple’s enduring spiritual significance.
